More and more entrepreneurs are realizing that having a presence on the Internet can be a major boost for any small business opportunity, but many companies still aren't exactly sure how to do it.

Hoping to address this problem, Daniel Kehrer of Business.com recently presented some examples of business owners who have found success online. These examples include an ice skate shop owner who posts videos online about using skating products and a restaurateur who decided on a name for her business after taking an online poll via social media.

Kehrer also offers his advice, saying small businesses owners should begin by creating or expanding their online presence, since it is becoming almost mandatory for a company to be represented on the Web. He also suggests trying social media, a technique that has benefited countless companies recently.

Finally, Kehrer says Web analytics tools should be used to examine a business' online performance and track emerging trends.

Twitter has recently become an important tool for companies looking to connect with customers online, and the site will soon release a new set of features designed especially for businesses. American Express' OPEN Forum featured a preview of the enhancements, which will include the ability for users to accept direct messages without sharing them publicly.
